One of the courses I took at Caltech was a computer language shop in Java, taught by instructor Donnie Pinkston. To learn the language, I created a fractal explorer and improved upon it week after week. The end result was a multithreaded program that allows one to explore several different fractals in extremely great detail (calculated live), and perform actions like resetting the display and saving the current image into a file.

Here are some sample images, located in various portions of the Mandelbrot set, the tricorn, and the Burning Ship fractals.
